4.3: A real post that isn’t only comics!

Posted in General, Nostalgia, Paladin on November 30, 2011 by robo99

Hey everyone,

Today I just wanted to give my first thoughts on 4.3 and all its intricacies.

I’ll start off with the prettiest addition, transmogrification. It’s cool, it’s weird, it is going to confuse me for a looooong time. I really, REALLY like how we can finally give more customization to our characters, but it is so weird. Let me explain. I have been playing this game for a 7ish years now. Certain gear sets and pieces are engrained, into the fiber of my being, with very particular time periods. It feels as if I am a time traveling wizard being thrown into a  bizzaro world where time has been cluster fucked together. Now, I’m not saying a cluster-fucked time-space universe is bad, it’s just going to take some getting used to. Overall, I rather enjoy wearing all the nostalgia sets I have collected over the years, so Transmogrification gets my seal of approval.

Now now, let’s talk about LFR.That is all.

Moving on (keeping good time too). RET BUFFS! Of course, I am going to take some time to talk about my new improved dps. I am now awesome. (Not really, but I am better.) In case you don’t know what ret got in particular, here’s a list:

-Seal of Truth, when Judged, now benefits from a multiplier of 20% per stack of Censure, up from 10%.

Sanctified Retribution now increases the critical hit chance of Hammer of Wrath by 2/4/6%, down from 20/40/60%.

Two-Handed Weapon Specialization (passive) now increases damage by 25%, up from 20%.

No longer does Judgment hit like a wet noodle, it now feels like getting slapped by a yardstick. It stings a bit more, but not too much of difference. However, I won’t complain. I’ll take buffs wherever I can get them. Number 2 and 3 on the list are directly related to each other. At face value, number 2 looks like a nerf, which it is. However, through the use of backward logic it’s not. Less crit for HoW means less burst damage. Less burst means more sustained damage (look at number 3). More sustained damage means better averages. Better averages means better dps. This is one my favorite changes and a step in the right direction. Ret is slowly, and I mean very slowly, becoming less RNG. Thank whatever deity you believe in. There is a still a long way to go, but with 4.3 and, eventually, the MoP changes Ret is looking good. Also, as a sidenote, melee AP buffs got upped from 10% to 20%. Not going to comment much here, but I feel like the mentality behind this was, “let’s give buffs to lagging dps rather than fix the fights”.

Last thing I want to talk about is Dragon Soul and the new 5mans. I have yet to either, except for in LFR which doesn’t count . I am excited for new content as always and hope it lives to my expectations. Dragon lore has been some of my favorite lore since I started playing Warcraft, and I am glad to see the big baddie finally go down. As long as we don’t play like trash, I hope we are in heroics modes in a 2-3 weeks.

Well, that’s all I have for now. New comic should be out in a few hours.

Until next time,

Voronwe
